*  Alpacas are a cousin of the llama and are a part of the Camelid family.
* During mating season, the male will  "orgle" (sing) to the lady alpaca to put her in the mood.
* When alpacas get older or had too much nutritious food, it makes the fiber become thicker.
* Life span of an Alpaca is any where between 20 to 30 yrs
*A mature female Alpaca will only have one cria (baby alpaca) a year
* Alpacas are very smart and funny animals with a gentle nature, with the look of a permanent smile.
* They use less room the other livestock , 5 to 10 alpacas per acre.
* First imported into the United States in 1984
*  Since dirt doesn't stick to their fleece, they are clean animals.
* The alpaca fiber carries no odor .
* Alpacas have bottom teeth only. The top palate is a hard dental pad in with which they grind their food.
